Step1

Finances: If you currently have a mortgage, no problem! There are several options depending on the type of mortgage you have. You’ll need to speak with your lender before you proceed. Knowing your post-sale plan is important before you sell your home.

  • Can you take possession of your new home before your existing home closes?

  • What sort of climate are you going to be re-buying in? Does your mortgage need an upgrade?

  • Are there penalties if you have to break your mortgage early?

Step 2

Meet with your Real Estate Agent. Finding the right Real Estate agent means finding someone you are comfortable with and confident in. Your agent should have your best interests at heart, be clear and concise with the details you need, and make the process easy! Shop around and ask questions and find a real estate agent who can provide you with in-depth market knowledge.

  • Does your Real Estate agent have experience selling your type of home?

  • Does your Real Estate agent speak your language?

  • Do they make you feel excited and ready for the process?

Step 3

Listing Your Home: pricing your home, your real estate agent will be able to help you decide on a price that’s competitive, market stats and the estimated value of your home.

  • Your Real Estate agent will help you make a list of all the to-dos to prepare your home for its best listing.

  • Prepare your home to showcase. Make sure your home and yard are clean and ready to show off!

  • Agree upon a price! Your Read Estate Agent will help you determine the best value of your home and prepare any necessary evaluations with you.

Step 4

Marketing and Promotion: Next steps will be to sign a Listing Agreement which will give your Real Estate agent permission to list your home on MLS (multiple listing service). They’ll be promoting your home through a variety of channels and disclosing to other agents (representing buyers) that your home is on the market. Your realtor can also help prepare your home for staging.

Step 5

The closing: You’ll hopefully have a few offers to work with. Once you have an accepted offer, the buyer will conduct a home inspection and potentially negotiate any cost of repairs. Finally, your real estate agent and lawyer will walk you through the paperwork and legal requirements needed to close.

  • Get ready for a home inspection and any possible agreed-upon repairs.

  • Receive your proceeds and manage your finances… again!

  • Get ready to move into your new home!

  • Celebrate!

Congratulations on the sale of your home!
